In 2015, Ruben and Darion met each other in Denver City and Lubbock, respectively. They instantly formed a bond, as though fate had brought them together at an unexpected time. Their relationship flourished, and before they knew it, they were living together. Two years later, they learned of an unexpected pregnancy, which brought them immense joy. However, during the pregnancy, they discovered that their baby boy had coarctation of the aorta, which meant they had to travel to Houston to deliver him safely. Houston was a challenging and overwhelming experience, but they were grateful that their baby was born without requiring surgery, which was a daunting possibility. During this trying time, Ruben provided unwavering support to Darion, both emotionally and spiritually, and their love for each other and God only grew stronger. On October 11, 2023, Ruben proposed to Darion in their driveway, after they returned from their first concert as a family. The band Papa Roach was playing, and the night was perfect, with light rain falling. After being together for eight years, through good times and hard times, they are thrilled to officially commit to each other in the presence of their loved ones and God. They are overwhelmed with gratitude and joy and excited to celebrate this momentous occasion with their loved ones.
